Have you experienced a Total Eclipse?

The Moon, Earth, and the Sun will align to cast some serious shade across North America, which is about as rare in the sky as finding a parking spot in downtown Manhattan.
At one point, it stops being day and starts being night. The temperature drops, and the animals start to wonder if they missed a message about going to bed.
Not only are these eclipses beautiful to look at, but they also get scientists and space fans really excited.
It’s a unique opportunity for research. Eclipses help astronomers study the sun’s corona, test Einstein’s theory of relativity, and, let’s be honest, take some pretty cool pictures for their Twitter and Instagram feeds.
If you want to be crafty, you can use a pinhole projector instead of eclipse glasses. Then just look up and enjoy the show.
Just remember that staring at the sun without any protection is like frying an egg on the sidewalk—it’s possible, but not a good idea.

Weather permitting, the first location in continental North America to experience totality will be Mexico’s Pacific coast at around 11:07 a.m. PDT.
