THE WEATHER CHANNEL
In reference to the hydrometeorological vortices that affect North America (USA-east, Mexico, Central America and The Antilles) during the rainy season, especially the eastern coasts of Mexico, it is important to specify:
a) Hurricane is the name given to the vortices that originate in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.b) Cyclone is the meteorological disturbances originating in the eastern Pacific Ocean which affect the coasts of Mexico and Central America.
c) Typhoons are the hydrometeorological vortices that affect the countries of East Asia and originate in the Western Pacific Ocean.
d) Monsoon is formed in the Indian Ocean and affects the countries of South Asia such as India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines…
Therefore, it is incorrect to call vortices, meteorological disturbances, tropical storms Hurricanes when they originate in the eastern Pacific Ocean, as happened with CYCLONE JOHN… It should not be called Hurricane John or another name… The correct name is CYCLONE JOHN…. In Mexico Between the Spring and Autumn Equinoxes (http://blog.friasgroup.com/2013/03/04/mexico-entre-los-equinoccios-de-primavera-y-otono/) and Meso-Energy (M.E. http://blog.friasgroup.com/2020/08/10/mesoenergia-energia-de-equilibrio-e-intermedia/) a summary of this consistent approach is presented.
The first Cyclone that I predicted six days in advance was the Tico Cyclone that occurred in the eastern Pacific Ocean in October 1983, which allowed for a considerable reduction in human and material damage in northwestern Mexico, particularly in the State of Sinaloa.
I trust that these concise comments will be of interest and will be timely to better visualize and understand the large hydrometeorological vortices originating in the Northern Hemisphere.
Sincerely,
Manuel Frias Alcaraz
